My name is Tim Carwell, an Aboriginal entrepreneur with family and relations with many member nations of the North Peace Tribal Council. I am a proud citizen of BFN and I am also CEO of the CommAlert Group of Companies. In January 2024, CommAlert launched an Impact Investing division to encourage businesses and individuals to actively support economic and cultural reconciliation. We believe that storytelling, knowledge-sharing, reclaiming cultural lands and language, and investing in Indigenous enterprise are fundamental to advancing reconciliation.
One of our key priorities is the development of Indigenous Centres of Excellence across Turtle Island. These multi-nation urban spaces will provide access to and celebrate the richness of Indigenous culture. The path to realizing these Centres began in a good way nearly 2 ½ years ago, and we continue to honour this process through ongoing conversations with communities throughout Treaties 6, 7, 8 and 11.
I am honored to invite you to our inaugural roundtable discussion on the Indigenous Centres of Excellence, taking place on October 2, 2024, in Edmonton. Following the roundtable, you are also invited to join us as our guest at the 50th Anniversary of the Canadian Finals Rodeo that evening.
