Corporate Social Responsibility

The CommAlert Group of Companies has been a social enterprise since the beginning. We support, fund and create initiatives that enhance reconciliation, mutual aid, acts of goodwill, gifts and community building. We are in the business of helping others. CommAlert CSR investments have included business continuity support during the pandemic, Goodwill Projects to benefit local startups, projects supporting education and employability for Indigenous youth, and initiatives encouraging cultural and economic reconciliation.

CommAlert CSR believes in taking an active and positive social role in our community and throughout Turtle Island. We invest portions of our profits in ventures and projects that make the world a better place, knowing that those investments will contribute to the same and continue the social enterprise. We want to scale mutual aid efforts, give back to the community, and provide meaningful opportunities for people to participate.

• Our CSR belief is that we, as a business, have a duty within society to make and bridge meaningful connections to all. In shaping our priorities, we carefully consider how we address issues affecting our environment and society as a whole.
• Our CSR approach isn’t something we achieved through one-off actions. It has been an ongoing process built on actions and decisions that promote lifting up others and creating equitable opportunities not only in business but in community.
• Our CSR strategy has been not only nimble in its response. Instead, it is tailored by what we hear from Indigenous communities, the leaders and knowledge keepers, and the energy trends we see.

Gloria’s Dreams Tree

CommAlert CSR is a key corporate partner of Gloria’s Dreams Tree, a local Indigenous impact investor. Gloria’s Dreams Tree invests in developing and delivering programs centred around traditional language and healing, arts and culture, student and corporate education, acts of goodwill, and gifts. This initiative also aims to develop Indigenous Centres of Excellence. These will be multi-nation spaces where Indigenous knowledge, language, and culture will be shared and a safe gathering space for art, culture, health, science, and storytelling.
